Most recently, he has been teaching guitar lessons at George School in Newtown since 2007, and he also taught at Bob Miles’ Guitar Academy for 11 years (2001-2012).
Dan’s approach to teaching guitar and bass is to meet the student’s interests and capabilities. He encourages and teaches music fundamentals as well as ear training. Students of Dan have gone on to study music at the university level, and he has also taught performing guitarists.
Students are encouraged to play and perform in ensembles, and a yearly recital gives them an opportunity to gain performance experience and showcase their talent and progress to family and friends.
Dan is a seasoned player with over 25 years of performance experience. His music began with rhythm & blues and jazz, and later branched out into classical and other musical styles. His CD of original songs, Life Keeps Marching On, was released in 2012. Teachers of Dan include jazz guitarist Bill Boris (BEEZWAX RECORDS) and award-winning classical guitarist Ross Mann, as well as composer/arranger/band leader Jerry Lackey (former Indiana University/South Bend Jazz Department chairperson).
Dan’s music studies included private instruction as well as formal college courses, and he composes and arranges for his students and personal performance projects. As a band leader in South Bend, his R&B/Jazz band played throughout the region from 1993 to 2000 to high acclaim.
